Photographers see the world through the lens of their own life experiences. So much of who I am as a photographer stems from who I am as a person. Taking a moment to get to know “me,” both the fun and more serious sides, will help to better understand what moments I choose to capture in my images.
I am a lover of many things that fuel my passion for life. Being “Aunt Nic” to my 8 nieces and nephews is a role I cherish. The amount of time we have been given to invest in their little lives is one of the biggest blessings to not yet having kids. All they know about Nerf gun fights they learned from us.
Thrift stores, antique shops and garage sales make me giddy. I am always looking for a piece of furniture to refinish or something unique to add to our home. If I catch a spare moment from shooting or editing, you can find me in my garage tackling a refurb project that usually involves my palm sander or sewing machine.
I married my college sweetheart, John, and he is without a doubt my better half. What we have walked through over our ten years of marriage has made us stronger as a couple, and for that I am grateful. He is my rock and biggest supporter of SimplyTold.
Many would be surprised to learn that I am a mother to heavenly babies. We have walked the road of miscarriages and infant loss. The brief life of my son, Owen, has made me a better person than I was before his time on this earth. He gave me a Mommy’s heart, a passion to start my “Heavenly Nuggets” Etsy Shop, and a voice on my blog to reach others in the grieving community. Our story can be found there.
My Heavenly Father is my everything. He is the reason I do what I do, and He has shown me that it is possible to feel joy just as strongly as I have felt pain. I am seeing more and more the ways He has gifted me in this career and called me to be a blessing to others. The lens through which I see life allows me to find beauty in the most unlikely places, and it is an honor and privilege to share it with my clients.
